Useful Travel Apps and Websites

Deciding to go on a trip is the first step of the journey; the planning is where many people get stuck. You have to book tickets and flights, set a budget, take time off, plan an itinerary, pack, apply for a visa and do many more things. It’s hard to figure out each and every aspect of your trip on bits and pieces of paper.

Thankfully in the digital age, there are many websites and mobile apps that help you plan, keep track, record and share your traveling memories without any hassle. There are countless apps you can choose from, which help you out with basic planning and make it easier for you to travel.

Some websites and apps that can be useful while traveling are TripIt.com, RoadTrippers.com, Gogobot.com, The Traveler, Plnnr.com, Evernote.com, etc.

  • If you want an instant itinerary made for your trip, just give all your info i.e. bookings, tickets, reservations, to TripIt and you will have a digital itinerary in no time.
  • Gogobot and TripAdvisor are similar as they both show reviews of places to stay and eat etc., but Gogobot goes a step further and connects you with friends who have been to where you plan on going, and it can also find similar groups near you that have the same interests as you. It is not only helpful in planning your trip but also helps in finding new friends along the way.
  • RoadTrippers helps map your route. Just add the start and end of your trip, and the website will mark all the sights and restaurants and tourist attraction spots along the way.
  • The Traveler is an android app that helps you record your trip. Some other websites and apps like Mygola, Plnnr work in similar ways helping in planning out itineraries.
  • Many apps also help in keeping track of your budget. Trail Wallet, Travel Budget, Bon Voyage, are all apps that keep track of all your expenses during your travel. They have different options of currencies to choose from as well as the option to let you know how much money you’ve got left.

While there are many apps and websites available, it is best to stick to just one. Too many apps can also confuse you to the point where you stop understanding what you need to do. So be calm and relax and stick to whichever app you find the most useful.
